A practice session is a deck of cards for one lesson. Teaching cards come first, then questions on what was just taught, then a short recap. Most lessons take five to ten minutes.
Card types you'll see#
| Card | What you do |
|---|---|
| Teach | Read a short explanation, sometimes with an image or a tap-a-word definition. |
| Choice | Pick one answer (or several when it says 'select all'). |
| Fill | Type the missing word. Spelling is forgiving: close synonyms and small typos count. |
| Pairs | Drag lines to match the two columns. |
| Order | Drag steps into the right sequence. |
| Drag | Drop labels onto a diagram or into categories. |
| Draw | Sketch an answer; your tutor sees it in live lessons. |
How answers are checked#
Every answer is sent to Tutorio's servers and marked there - the correct answer is never hidden inside the page, so there's nothing to peek at in the browser. The score for a session is bound to that session, which is also why a practice page left open overnight asks you to start again.
Teaching before testing#
Questions only ever cover what a lesson has already taught. The Review at the end of a topic is likewise built only from the pieces you've been through, so if something looks unfamiliar it's a bug - tell us.
Long-press (or double-click) a word on a card to see a definition chosen for that sentence. It works in teaching text and questions alike.
Common questions#
Can I redo a lesson?
Yes, as often as you like. Your best score is kept; redoing never lowers it.
Why did the card say I was wrong when I was right?
Fill cards accept synonyms and small typos but not a different word with the same meaning in every case. If you're sure, use the flag on the card so the tutor or our team can check the answer key.
Does practice work offline?
Cards are fetched one ahead, so a brief dropout mid-session is fine. Starting a lesson needs a connection.
