For parents: what your child is using

A plain-English explanation of the app, what a session looks like, and the safeguards built in.

1 min read Updated 20 October 2026 parents

Your child's tutor has set up a course on Tutorio, and your child practises it in short sessions on a phone, tablet or computer. Each session is a deck of cards: a little teaching, a few questions, a recap. Right answers earn coins and keep a daily streak going; wrong answers cost a heart. At the end of a topic there's a short Review the tutor can see.

What a parent sees over a shoulder: a five-minute session, a streak and a Review score the tutor can also see.

The safeguards#

  • No adverts, ever. Nothing is sold to students; coins can't be bought with money.
  • No chat between students. Classmates see a leaderboard with nicknames and avatars, nothing more.
  • Tutor contact is one-way. Tutors can message a class through notifications; students can't message tutors or each other in the app.
  • Minimal data. We store what's needed to run the account and the learning record - see Children's privacy.
  • Time-boxed by design. Sessions are short and the app nudges towards a daily habit rather than long stretches.

What you can do#

  • Ask the tutor for a progress report - they can generate one in a click.
  • Open an enrichment pack the tutor shares: family activities that need no account.
  • Set notification quiet hours on the device, or switch categories off in the app.
  • Email us with any concern; we read every message.
