Live lesson problems

Students not joining, screens out of sync, answers not arriving, drawing lag.

Students aren't joining#

  • They need to be in the class (check the roster) and have the app open or notifications on.
  • Ask them to open the home screen; the live lesson banner is at the top. Pull to refresh if it isn't.
  • Their phone may be on a school network that blocks WebSocket connections - the lesson still works, falling back to polling, but joins take a few seconds longer.

Screens are out of sync#

The tutor's position is the source of truth. A student who's behind can pull to refresh; a nudge from the monitor also jumps them to the current slide.

Answers aren't arriving#

Answers are saved on the server the moment they're sent, so a slow monitor is a display issue: reload the monitor. If a student's answer never appears, ask them to answer again - duplicates are ignored.

Drawing lags#

Annotations stream stroke by stroke. On very slow connections they arrive in bursts. Reduce the stroke count by using the pointer instead of shading.
